The journey time from Faro Airport to Albufeira is about 45 minutes. There
are several ways of reaching your destination by bus, taxi, private transfer
or hiring your own car.
For private transfers we recommend Shuttle Direct, one of the largest transfer companies in Europe.
There is a bus stop outside the terminal building on the right hand side. There are no direct lines to Albufeira and you will need to get the bus to the main station in Faro and then change. Further details can be obtained from www.eva-bus.net.
The taxi rank is also outside the terminal building near the arrivals concourse and the far end on the right. The main airport taxis will only take a maximum of four people plus luggage. Be warned that they are very unlikely to have children’s safety seats. A general guide on cost is that every kilometre travelled equates to one Euro. If you travel from Faro Airport to Albufeira between 06.00 and 22.00 hours the cost will be in the region of €45. Late night journeys between 22.00 and 06.00 incur a surcharge and are likely to be around €60.
If you book your own private transfer to Albufeira, then what generally happens is that the Shuttle Direct driver meets you in the arrivals hall by displaying a board with your name on it and will then take you to your destination for the price agreed and paid for beforehand.
Hiring your own vehicle is the best way to
get around in this beautiful area and to cut down on transfer costs it is advisable
to arrange to collect your chosen car on arrival. There are several main car
hire companies to choose from in the arrivals hall at Faro Airport.
