The Algarve in Southern Portugal has an extremely mild climate with only short periods of rain during the cooler months between November and March and with the highest average of sunshine hours in Europe.

The geographic relief of Albufeira and its position in the Algarve with its proximity to North Africa means that its moderate climate provides an excellent place to holiday during the winter months. The average temperatures of between 14-21ºC during this period provide an ideal climate for golfers when warm and balmy afternoons nestle between he cooler mornings and evenings.

The coastline of this region is edged with white sandy beaches and calm seas which have an average temperature of 21-31ºC during the summer months. Cooling sea breezes from the Atlantic Ocean help to maintain a tolerable climate during the hottest months of July and August when neighbouring Spain often becomes unbearably hot and humid.

Probably the most temperate climate is during the months of May, June or September when it is warm and sunny with long summer nights, but with the tourist season either just starting or tailing off it is less busy.

Below are details showing you the average annual temperatures, sunshine hours, rainfall and sea temperatures throughout the year in the Algarve.
